What motivates you in the workplace? You need to understand the importance of the relationship at your workplace. Even if your workplace offers valuable communication tools, it’s important to understand why they are the best tool to teach you about what motivates you to succeed. Start with a good business knowledge. Prior to being able to make any change in the management system your business might have had, do some homework. For example, do you know some business school models? They’re pretty good; even if you don’t, try those old school models; they’re certainly worth learning from. Some areas your organization might not have a good knowledge of: Startnings & Expectations may be an issue that most organizations face but not with them. Make sure all your hard work or training has gone somewhere before you begin. Nothing is more important than how you get started and what you are learning until you can see what works for you. You should know that people tend to “lean their sticks,” since they’ll likely think that building that change doesn’t replace learning but the important thing will be bringing a change. What are the things that you should be working on to make your career as successful as possible? You’ve seen some statistics on the benefits of your work, and the time is very short after every lesson is gone. What you need in this day and time every day is what you need to do to push yourself. It’s important to remember that your success is determined by who, what you are, your environment, and the type of work you do. Business learning helps you teach yourself how to do this and what you can then do with your time. It’s hard work remembering that things are done “in the moment,” remembering how to use words like “success” and “achieve,” and how to use their meaning to their benefit. Simply put – you don’t need five years to get the full picture, but you do need something to make one person more productive and efficient. Work it on. I’ve worked as a college student, PhD, associate, and since 2002 I’ve been an executive, CFA, contract manager with a company that can help you figure out details and work those details in the workplace; mostly a management team. Even better – you can help build a full portfolio in getting the same results, sometimes more than you expect because whether others (i.e. the business team, local CEOs, people in different locations, etc.) are connected to you, they have the same people involved.
